PPG Training in USA

US PPG Instructors do not have to be licensed or registered to teach powered paragliding.

Transport Canada does not recognize flights taken in the US due to the fact that no Canadian Student Pilot Permit was issued prior to your first flight.

Transport Canada also requires that all flights towards your ultralight aeroplane permit must be on registered aircraft.

Instructors in USA do not register their paramotors.

Canadian PPG Instructors can only train from a Transport Canada Authorized training area – read large and appropriate.

Canadian Instructors are mandated to ensure that Canadian Students get properly trained and licensed according Canadian Aviation Rules (CARS).

In Canada an Ultralight Pilot Permit is required to fly PPG. If someone tells you that you really don’t require a license in Canada to fly a paramotor, they are wrong.

Transport Canada monitors training and licensing aggressively – TC representatives have attended several Fly-Ins in the past asking for documentation.

Flying a PPG or a Cessna illegally is the same in the eyes of Transport Canada and a carries minimum $ 5000.00 fine per infraction.

If you still want to take training in the USA be aware that even with good practical training taken in the USA,  you will still have to take training in Canada to meet the requirements of Transport Canada criteria.
