Sep 22/18 – PPG course Jamie, Steve and Eugene

Got the first half ground school done and started to kite.

Sep 7/18 – CYSN to CYTB

Great flight to Tillsonburg and back

Sep 1/18 – Stave flight 2 and Matt could have flown

It was a great afternoon and early evening at the field. Perfect south wind. Steven tried for another flight but failed close to 10 reverse inflations. He needs to work on kiting a little more.

While he was taking a break Matt put a paramotor on. Meanwhile the wind started to decrease rapidly and Matt had to try forward inflations. He had it locked in on the fourth try. The engine was running and he was pushing himself and all that was needed was to squeeze power more… Unfortunately we couldn’t do that because his medical is not in place yet.

After this Steve tried again. This time he did pull it off and had beautiful flight in super calm conditions. He was landing in absolutely no wind and it was a fast one and we also overshot a little so he landed pretty close to the bushes on the north end of the training field. All ended well – next time I think we give ourselves extra room.

That was the end of the course. We didn’t do super well. Students were all over 50 yrs old and one was over 60 and that really shows. They all did reasonably well but younger students are much faster. We also ran into some high winds so all students have hours left on the logbooks and are coming back to train more.

It was a really fun group of people I was very and enjoyable course

Sep 1/18 – Steven first solo

Finally Steven had the required skills to attempt a first solo flight. It was quite calm in the morning, no wind, so we were doing a pre-solo briefing. All of a sudden the wind started to pick up very rapidly so it was a go time.

We set up real quick and Steve took off on the second try using reverse inflation and made first solo flight in a relatively high winds.

Well done. CONGRATS.

Matt is also ready to fly but his medical certificate has not been issued by TC yet and unfortunately I cannot let him fly until that is resolved.

Ash is still working on ground handling – getting lot better

Aug 31/18 – Course update

All students are still at the kiting stage. I think steve is going to fly soon but we need to half decent weather. It’s either too windy or not enough wind
