Aug 12/19 – Rob first solo + 5 more flights

July 25/19 – Tandem flight with Tatiana

It was a great one – air was soooo smooth

July 24/19 – Glenn first solo, Gary another flight

What an successful evening. Garry went on a second very long flight. Glenn got his first solo done and Ben has visited for some fun flying. Two people in this course, one person first solo after two days and the second person in three days. That is pretty good – I am very happy about that. The pressure is off.

July 23/19 – Gary first solo on day 2

We did ground handling this morning but the wind was light and variable. It was somewhat productive but not great.

Midday break from 12 noon till 4 PM then more ground handling.

Whind picked up so it was very nice for reverse and both Garry and Glenn progressed a lot. Gary eventually started to work with the motor and practiced power on taxing. He was so good and the conditions were so perfect that I gave him the go ahead to fly and and he did…

It was perfect takeoff excellent Flying and pretty good landing but like most students did end up on his knees.

Congratulations Gary on your first solo flight. Accomplished in just two days of training. You are above average. Glen will follow shortly.

Excellent day

July 22/19 – Gary and Glenn are getting trained

July 23/19 – It has been challenging

It has been very challenging start of this season. I was facing some incredible weather, lots of rain, very high and unpredictable winds and grass that was growing out of control. I was also hindered by an ongoing health issue, my right ankle is starting to give me a hard time – an old injury is coming back to hunt me. There was some other challenges on other levels but it is all behind me now so I am back at full swing. I may not be able to post updates as often as I did before, it just takes too much time and it doesn’t seem to make too much of a difference. Stay tuned for more.

May 16 and 27/19 – John first solo and 20 more flights

John signed up for training at the end of November. We managed to do ground school all the paperwork and spend one day at the field. John was pretty much ready to fly then but it was way too cold and I was afraid his hands would freeze. We were planned to do more in the winter but it was very cold and we didn’t get a chance. Then it was the wet spring so it took till end of May for us to continue. John quickly brought his skills back to perfection and on Sunday night managed to do first solo and two more flights. Next day in the morning he managed to do 17 more flights. He quickly learned how to takeoff and land without assistance and since his landings were perfect I was able to let him do touching goes. That evening John was going to fly his gear which is more agile and more powerful. Conditions were a bit gusty and the gear was slightly different so John had bit of a trouble to control the aircraft for the first half a minute of his flight. I have determined that it was too gusty to continue so we packed up and will meet again soon. John sits on 21 flights.

May 23/19 – What is with the weather?

This is nuts – rain, wind and then wind and rain. Have not done much> field are wet, grass is tall, cant cut it. Worst start of the season ever.
