Sep 12/16 – Two tandem flights this AM

Two tandem flights this AM – one with Casey and one with Jason. It was only 13 C at 7 am so I was bracing my self for very cold flights but we had a great inversion – from 50 ft AGL the temperature was at least 10 more C. We were not cold at all, I brought gloves but did not put them on. Very smooth air. Great flying.

Aug 24/16 – Pics from Ben’s XC

Ben has finished his training in 2013 and came back to do XC flight under my supervision. He needed bit of advice on starting his motor as he flew last time one year ago. I also guided him on his take off but once in the air it all came back to him so he enjoyed leaving the field and exploring the Niagara area.

Here are a few pics from his flight:

Aug 24/16 pm – Massimo, Stephane, Ben and Chris

Again it was a mayhem at the field. Luckily Massimo was already completely independent and I could simply tell him to go flying. He quickly managed eight more flights to get to 30 – we have also practiced big ears which he did quite well and engine out procedure.

Congratulations Massimo on completing the practical course requirements!

Ben got his 30 flight 3 yrs ago and just came to do XC flight which he did.

Aug 23/16 pm – Massimo and Chris

Forecast was terrible. High winds till 3 am. We got together at 6:30 pm on the off chance that it will die and it did. Massimo added 2 more flight to his log – he has got 10 and Chris tried but jumped into seat too early and had to abort which he has done extremely well.

Great day so far!

Aug 22/16 pm – PPG course Chris, Massimo and Stephane

IMG_1866 From left to right: Massimo, Chris and Stephane

We have waited from 4 PM to 7 PM for the wind to die and it finally did. Then mayham started. Massimo tried first but he was having hard time inflating with a new type of paraglider that he was given. I then went to Stephane and he took off no problem using reverse inflation. After him Chris was ready to try for his first solo. He nailed it on the first try! Beautiful forward inflation he applied power gradually but with commitment and he was off the ground. We ended up switching Massiomos glider for a size large but at the same time I have noticed that neither Chris or Stephan are replying to my queries. The bouth lost radio comment the same time. I wasn’t worrying about Stephan who is experience sky diver but Chris was up in the sky for the first time completely on his own solo and solo. No advice from the instructor at all. Surprisingly both of them did not mind and cruising above enjoying themselves to the point where I thought they’re playing practical joke on me at this point I was worrying about it especially about Chris since this was his first. Finally after about 25 minutes most guys decided to land and did it completely under own which is quite remarkable. Then Massimo tried to take off again but at this point when died off and it was impossible to get off the ground for a beginner. What an adrenaline rush, Little too much actually. Not nonetheless congratulations Chris on your first unguided solo it’s you have managed extremely well. Nice flight for Stephan as well, he was pretty happy because last time we were together he spent two hours trying to lock in inflation and failed every time. Unfortunately no flight from Massimo but he will make it up tomorrow morning. Then it was off for a beer as the old needed a cold one after such an exciting evening.

Good conditions this morning. Massimo flew 3 more times and has 4 flights in his log book. All well done even though the kill switch on his motor was not working properly.

Chris was working hard kiting with motor on his back and was nailing it. He will fly tonight!

Aug 21/16 – PPG course day 4

Too windy today – no flying

Aug 20/16 – PPG course day 3

3 guys at the field. Massimo, Chris and Graham.

Graham has 20 flights and just purchased his ne RS ULTRA paramotor and he came to add few more flights to his log book.

Massimo was ready for first solo we we wanted the wind to be just perfect. So Chris and Massimo ground handled until wind was about 15 km/h which is ideal for first solo.

After about 2 inflations Massimo locked it in and took off with a slight tendency to sit dow. His flying skills are very good and his landing was just as soft as mines are. Very well done.

Congrats on first solo Massimo.

Chris has also improved tremendously. He is inflating with paramotor on his back as well. WE decided to use lighter Miniplane as stepping stone. Good work Chris.

Graham flew his new paramotor and added 2 more flights to his log – total 22. He will be done soon.
